nail biterPanthers hold off 406 Goff yards behind Young’s two TDs to McMillan
Jared Goff threw for 406 yards. Detroit gained 452. The Lions lost by six, because their red zone plan was apparently 'Jake Bates from distance' — four field goals, and not much else to show for nearly half a thousand yards.
Bryce Young threw two touchdowns to Tetairoa McMillan, Chuba Hubbard ran for two more, and Carolina's 32-19 fourth-quarter lead survived a late Lions touchdown the way a good fence survives weather. The Panthers didn't need 400 yards. They needed the end zone, and they found it four times.
The math is the joke: 452 yards, 26 points — 17.4 yards per point, a ratio that should be studied by scientists. Detroit moved the ball like a contender and finished drives like a team that had somewhere else to be. Somewhere, an analytics department is screaming into a pillow.
